The Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) directorate and a team of experts, led by Swiss TPH Director Jürg Utzinger, last week visited Kosovo to closely witness the AQH Project progress and in particular the interim results of Kosovo Non-Communicable Cohort (KOSCO), a study funded through the AQH Project by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) which aims to contribute to the epidemiological evidence for the detection and control of chronic diseases (NCDs) in Kosovo and to support basics of further public health policies and decision making processes around NCDs in Primary Health Care.
The importance of health research for project interventions as well as the mutual professional research experience exchanges generated through the cohort work figured high on the meetings’ agenda between Swiss TPH directorate, University of Prishtina and the project cohort team.
The Swiss TPH team also organized a field visit to the Main Family Medicine Center in Fushe Kosova, one of the project partner municipalities even since the beginnings of the AQH Project, back in 2016.
