Representatives from 25 municipalities across Kosovo met on October 2, 2025 with the Ministry of Health and the AQH Project to discuss healthcare priorities for the coming year. The workshop, which gathered 43 participants, focused on aligning municipal plans with the AQH 2026 Annual Plan, particularly in tackling noncommunicable diseases (NCDs).
During the discussions, municipalities presented their current initiatives, outlined their plans for 2026, and explored ways to harmonize them with AQH’s approach. Now in its final phase, AQH is applying a demand-driven model, where municipalities actively participate and lead interventions introduced in earlier project phases. This approach demonstrates their readiness to fully take over and sustain project initiatives – ensuring interventions remain sustainable, accessible, and beneficial for all citizens of Kosovo.
Participants highlighted that AQH support has strengthened coordination, improved planning, and equipped municipalities with the tools needed to better serve their communities.
Afrim Krasniqi, Director of the Main Family Medicine Center (MFMC) in Malishevë, emphasized the value of this workshop for national-level coordination: “Today’s meeting is very helpful, since we are in the process of planning next year’s activities. Here we can coordinate with AQH, but also with other municipalities, making planning more successful and ensuring that citizens benefit the most.”
Meanwhile, Naile Gjaka, Director of MFMC Vushtrri, added: “Vushtrri has been part of the AQH-supported municipalities since the first phase of the project, and now we are in the final stage of integrating these initiatives into our local structures. Today’s workshop is among the most important in guiding our next steps.”
The workshop reaffirmed the importance of aligning national and local health priorities to strengthen healthcare services and enhance community well-being across Kosovo.
