The project’s Quality of Care study showed that infection prevention and control measures needed to be strengthened and in response to this, AQH appointed a national consultant- Dr. Lulzim Raka a Professor of Medical Microbiology and Infection Control, to develop and deliver training sessions for clinical staff in PHC on understanding the principles and elements of infection prevention and control measures. The topics covered in the training included: introduction to infection prevention and control in primary care, patient safety, hand hygiene, management of medical waste, standard precautions and legal infrastructure for infection prevention and control in Kosovo.
The first round of training sessions were delivered during June –July 2017 which were organized in three clusters (Prishtina, Mitrovica and Gjakova). Further rounds of training will be delivered during September- November 2017.
