Swiss Delegation Discusses Patient-Centred Healthcare Advancements in Kosovo

On November 8, 2024, Switzerland’s Advisory Commission on International Cooperation met with health sector officials in Lipjan, Kosovo. The purpose of the visit was to review ongoing collaboration with the Accessible Quality Healthcare (AQH) project, which aims to enhance primary healthcare in the region.

During the visit to Lipjan’s Main Family Medicine Centre (MFMC), an AQH project demonstration site, the delegation focused on the project’s eight-year role in improving services for chronic patients, promoting evidence-based planning, implementing quality management practices, and establishing patient feedback mechanisms.

Presentations emphasized the importance of effective communication and health education in empowering patients to engage with their own care. The delegation also addressed challenges around data reliability and availability, discussing recent analytical findings and the impact of the project’s cohort study on national policy and local healthcare monitoring.

The visit concluded with a guided tour of the MFMC, where the Swiss delegation explored the Health Resource Centre and met with representatives of the Patient Council.
