To improve the quality of PHC services the AQH is providing basic PHC equipment for all MFMCs and FMCs in the 12 project municipalities. In previous months PIU has worked with key stakeholders to identify exactly what equipment needs to be provided and now this is agreed we are required to follow international tendering procedures to purchase the equipment. To assist us with this Nicu Fota undertook his first mission to Kosovo in February 2017. Nicu is supported by his colleague Cornel Pislaru who will provide desk-based inputs before his in-country work later in the year. Nicu and Cornel have extensive experience of international procurement through their previous work with Swiss TPH.
During this mission the consultants met with SDC and worked closely with the PHC Technical Expert Group (PHC TEG) to review the work undertaken with PIU so far, finalise the specifications for the equipment, and agree the overall implementation plan for this activity. Next steps will be to prepare the tender documents and open international and local announcements for the bidders. After the applications are collected, the evaluation timeline is 2-3 months. The overall activity will be completed by the end of 2017. Evaluation and monitoring team for tender will be done by the committee consisted of: PIU, SDC, and Ministry of Health.
