6th Edition of the Prishtina Hub – Lugano Summer School in Public Health

The Lugano Summer School in Public Health, Prishtina Hub, is taking place from Monday, August 18, until Saturday, August 23, 2025. The program brings together 18 healthcare professionals from Kosovo’s primary and secondary care sectors, as well as public health specialists, to strengthen their knowledge and exchange best practices.

This year, participants from the Prishtina Hub are attending courses on Digital Health Systems, Public Health Nutrition, Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and Health Systems, and Design Thinking. Through these courses, they are gaining new insights, practical skills, and exposure to global approaches in public health.

The Prishtina Hub has a unique story. In 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic made travel to Lugano impossible, AQH organized a group of Kosovo participants to follow the Summer School courses locally in Prishtina. What started as a one-time solution has now become a tradition: for six years in a row, Prishtina has hosted a local Hub of the Summer School.

From being the very first Hub outside Switzerland, Prishtina has paved the way for expansion. Today, the Lugano Summer School has grown to eight Hubs, making it possible for professionals in different regions to connect, learn, and benefit from the latest knowledge, innovations, and interventions in public health.

For the past two years, the Prishtina Hub has been implemented and taking place at the premises of the National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo (NIPHK). The organization of this event is supported by both Swiss TPH projects in Kosovo: Accessible Quality Healthcare Project (AQH), Integrated Health Services Project (IHS), in collaboration with Swiss School of Public Health (SSPH+).
